The company was founded in 1948 when Ronald Bowers recognised a need for high quality dies for the thriving British shoe trade, as well as steel embossing dies for seal and label printing. The company's range of products now covers the food and pharmaceutical industries, cosmetics packaging, security printing and aerospace.
During the 1970's, Ronald Bowers began to entrust the day to day running of the business to his sons Robert and John who continued to develop the business into one of Europe's leading exponents of precision tooling for the packaging industry.
Following Robert's retirement in December 2000, John has continued to expand the company, developing the supply of stamps and forging punches for the aerospace industry to new heights of excellence and innovation.
A unique feature of R.E. Bowers & Freeman is that most of the craftsmen have been with the company for their entire working life, handing on their knowledge and expertise to the select young people who join the company training scheme. These highly skilled and like-minded specialists combine the finest traditions of British craftsmanship with state-of-the-art technology in pursuit of excellence and innovation.
